Creams,Lotions and Gels
|
Creams, lotions and gels help reduce the bacterial population on the skin and alcohol based lotions may help by removing excess sebum. Some of the products are very effective. They may have side effects, usually drying up of the skin or a reaction to one of the active ingredients. Creams/gels are available over the counter in a Pharmacy and are quite effective for mild spots. They work by reducing the bacterial population on the skin in addition to causing the removal of plugs of sebum and dead skin cells from the pores. The only drawback to their continual use is that these products can cause excessive drying of the skin and occasionally, a nasty allergic reaction. Acne is best treated and prevented by addressing ALL the factors that lead to the formation of lesions. Therefore it is logical to combine treatment with products that address different causative factors(sebum, bacteria, dead skin). The action of each preparation will be ADDITIVE and lead to a more effective and faster result than can be achieved by a single product alone. It is usual to apply one product in the morning and a different one in the evening. However there are also products available that contain TWO of the active agents in the one application. All sufferers want instant results. You can help yourself by using this technique. |
